Book Review: The Adventures of a Military Brat My Military Life
Join a brave boy as he takes readers on a journey that is familiar to military children around the world. Follow him as he reunites with his cousin, anticipates an upcoming move, adjusts to his father’s recent return and shows pride demonstrating military traditions.
Did you know that there are approximately 1.9 million military children, ranging in ages from newborn to 18 years old? 765,000 of our military children have Active duty parents, and nearly 225,000 have a parent who is currently deployed. Most military children will face many sorts of unique life challenges; changing schools, new homes, and deployment of loved ones.
As military parents, it is our job to help mentor and guide our military brats through the roller coaster of military life as best as we can. The life of a military brat is not an easy one. Thankfully, one wonderful way to help kids make sense of their military life is with books.
The Adventures of a Military Brat My Military Life by Johanna and Daniel Gomez is about a brave boy that reunites with his cousin, Lucas. The brave boy shares his military life experiences with his cousin. He talks about his frequent moves, making new friends, separation of parents, where his family shops and the fun activities that his family gets to participate in.
This book is perfect for young readers, especially for military children. It teaches readers that even though there may be many challenges to military life, the experiences can be positive and adventurous. This book also shows readers that this unique lifestyle is something to be proud of! The Adventures of a Military Brat My Military Life also gives readers that are non-military children a better understanding of the challenges and unique lifestyle of a military family. It is a great way to bring non-military and military children together.

This sounds like a great book. Military life is certainly unique, and it is nice to have a book that kids can relate to.
This is perfect! My nephew can definitely relate to this wonderful book. He’s one of the many military children whom I admire for keeping up with the demands of the military life experiences. Thank you for sharing this. Can’t wait to grab a copy.
