Children’s Book Review: Bee-ing Happy with Unicorn Jazz and Friends

Bee-ing Happy with Unicorn Jazz and Friends is a colorfuly illustrated happiness book in the Unicorn Jazz series, “Bee Happy” introduces adorable animals like a monkey, giraffe, octopus, gorilla, cat, frog, and of course, Woof the Crow, who show creative and fun ideas on what being happy can mean.

Emotional intelligence, the self-awareness of emotions, and how we learn to respond to different circumstances using our emotions, is a vital skill we nurture in our children. As a parent, one of my biggest goals is to provide my children with greater understandings of their emotions. A wonderful feeling that I think all parents should focus on is happiness.

One of the ways you can expose children to being happy and invoking thoughts on what makes them happy is with books. “Bee-ing Happy with Unicorn Jazz and Friends” by Lisa Caprelli is a great children’s book that will have your children pondering what makes them happy. This book encourages happiness and appreciation for positive moments. Reading “Bee-ing Happy with Unicorn Jazz and Friends” aloud allows children the ability to recognize and share the many joys of their lives like trying on your mom’s clothes or going to the beach with family and friends.

Author, Lisa Caprelli includes discussion questions at the end of this book, along with some facts. You and your little one can use those discussions to explore their imagination and talk about what makes them happy. Another neat surprise that the author includes is a coloring page. The coloring page is an excellent opportunity for your little one to express their creativity and add their personal touch to the book.

This book will be a great read in any classroom or home and will win its way into your heart and onto your bookshelf. “Bee-ing Happy with Unicorn Jazz and Friends” will teach children that they can find happiness when they take the time to appreciate the wonderful things around them.

I also wrote it to help children who look or feel different, who might be teased at school (like I was) to get some kind of support.
