Book Review: The Magic of Friendship Snow by Andi Cann

Jojo looks around and everyone seems to have friends but her. She feels sad and lonely. She wonders, how do you make a friend? How do you BE a friend? Then Jojo meets Puddles, the snowman made with magic snow.

The discovery of a best friend is a precious gift of childhood.

I think that everyone, at some point in their life, has struggled in making new friends. Where you get the feeling like you don’t belong or don’t fit in. Do you know that feeling? The queasy sensation deep in the pit of your stomach. The one that makes you feel sick to your stomach. You know what I’m talking about right. Now imagine being a small child in this big world. That queasy feeling that you feel in your stomach is twice as hard for a young child who doesn’t know how to handle their emotions. But a child must learn to make new friends. It is an essential skill for healthy childhood development. So how do we help our children build on these skills?

One great way is by reading books with your children. A great children’s book that helps children learn how to find and build relationships is The Magic of Friendship Snow by Andi Cann. This story is a beautifully illustrated children’s book about acceptance, kindness, and navigating social challenges. This book about friendship can give kids a “road map” to cultivating long-lasting friendships in their life.

In The Magic of Friendship Snow by Andi Cann, a girl named Jojo is having trouble making friends. Everywhere she looks around; she sees people making friends except for her. She feels sad and lonely. Then, Jojo meets Puddles, the snowman made with magic friendship snow.

In the story, Puddles teaches Jojo how to be a good friend and how to make friends.

As you read this book, each drawing in The Magic of Friendship Snow will captivate you and your child’s mind. There is a beautiful display of wonder throughout the illustrator’s work. Each illustration is whimsical and dreamy and envokes a vibrant and playful style that is childlike and carefree.

As parents who recognize how meaningful friendships are to our children’s healthy social and emotional development, we must all do what we can to nurture and encourage our children to be good friends and how to make friends.

I want my kids to learn to be good friends – kind friends, friends that are there to lend a helping hand, a friend who is there for you unconditionally. The Magic of Friendship Snow is a great way to provide children with genuine, relatable, and inspiring examples of positive and fulfilling friendships.
