Kids Bullying Books: The Little Labradoodle Series

After being bullied at the local dog park, lovable misfit, Brady, has a big idea to join forces with others and create a K.L.U.B. where all are welcome and no bullying is allowed.

Kindness, Love, Unity & Bravery (K.L.U.B.) are qualities that the new group will need to be successful. Together, they are confident that they CAN make a difference. But how will the bullies react?

Bullying is a serious issue, and reading kids anti-bullying books can help your kids better understand how to have healthier relationships with peers. Whether your kid has been a victim of bullying or has been the bully, they must learn about empathy, kindness, and how to make a positive impact in other’s lives.

Kids anti-bullying books such as “The Little Labradoodle Join the K.L.U.B. No Bullying Allowed” is a great way to bridge the conversation to a difficult topic of bullying. This book by April M. Cox is about a sweet little labradoodle who is a bit of a misfit. He is a little smaller, a bit clumsier, and struggles with insecurities. In the story, Brady and his friends face bullying and isolation, and they are empowered to create a “klub” to stand up against bullying. Brady and his friends learn to make a positive difference in the lives of others.

Whether you are speaking with kids about bullying and making a difference in the lives of others, or you want to help your children learn valuable lessons of acceptance, compassion, kindness, and respect, kids anti-bullying books such as these are essential to read with kids.

Rapid Fire with April M. Cox, Author of kids anti-bullying books: The Little Labradoodle Series

Q. What inspired your journey to become the Author you are today?

April: My grand kids inspired me. I rediscovered picture books after they were born and loved the intimacy of reading with them.

Q. Describe what your ideal writing space looks like?

April: I typically do my best work sitting in my recliner with a laptop on my lap.  That’s where the kids sit with me to read and my labradoodles hop up and that’s how it all began for me… making up stories with the grand kids – especially about the doodles.

Q. What type of books do you write?

April: I write children’s picture books and have many coloring and activity books (kids and adult).

Q. Where did you find the inspiration while writing this book?

April: It was inspired by my Labradoodle, Brady and my grand kids. They are all in the book!

Q. What does your creative process look like?

April: I like to make up stories for the grand kids and I brainstorm and write down the story and read it to the grand kids and get ideas.  They are great at telling me the truth about whether they like it or not.  Then I have beta readers and an advisory group that I use to get broader feedback.  I have a strong editor and work with my illustrator, Len Smith to create the characters and begin bringing the book to life.

Q. What advice would you give to a new writer?

April: Do a lot of reading in a number of genres, especially the one(s) you want to write in.  Join a community of like-minded people and mentor(s) to help you get there.

Q. What do you love most about being an Author?

April: I love creating something that brings families together.  There’s nothing like the feeling of a child melting into your lap or snuggled up against you at bedtime ready to read their favorite book. That’s what I love as a grandmother and it’s what makes my job so rewarding.

Q. Can you tell us about one of the most rewarding moments you have had as an author?

April: Recently Jayden sent me a story that he wrote himself. It was only a handful of sentences, but brought his Mom to tears. Why? He is Autistic and has a very hard time writing. He and I have been corresponding after the first time his Mom emailed me telling me how much he loved the book. She was excited that it held his attention and he was able to read it for himself. It lifts my heart knowing that I am making a difference.
