Rapid Fire with Cristina Craciun
Q. When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?
Cristina: To be honest, I never thought I wanted ever to be a writer…I have enjoyed writing in school, as an adult I pursued a corporate career, but missed the creative process of writing from time to time. As soon as I had the first ideas for “Olivia & Maro,” my primary goal was to share a story with the world, in my case, a story for kids that they can relate to and learn something from it.
Q. What was the most surprising thing you learned about creating books?
Cristina: That writing a story is easier than self-publishing a book. Finding the right people to support you in this journey is fundamental for your book’s success, especially because of the impressive competition in this industry.
Q. What do you think makes a good story?
Cristina: From my point of view, a good story is one that captures your attention, inspires, and educates.
Q. Describe what your ideal writing space looks like?
Cristina: A quiet, light room with white furniture, maybe some flowers, a city or garden view, and no disturbance.
Q. What do you love most about the writing process?
Cristina: I love that through writing, you can design a different world. You can inspire people, make them laugh or cry. Words create emotions and can change lives. Writing makes it all possible.
Q. What inspires you as a writer?
Cristina: People and nature.
Q. What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Cristina: I enjoy taking long walks in nature, watching movies, meeting friends.
Q. Can you tell us about one of the most rewarding moments you have had as an author?
Cristina: When I received my first author copy, it was one of the most rewarding moments before releasing the book to the public.
Q. What do you hope your readers take away from this book?
Cristina: I hope they learn to demonstrate courage no matter the circumstances, be kind with every kind and believe in their dreams.
Q. Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
Cristina: As this is my literary debut, you can imagine my reader’s pool is not that huge, but I do hear from them. Readers say they enjoyed Olivia and Maro’s extraordinary adventure. They are delighted by Odysseus Stamoglou’s incredible illustrations; they are puzzled about the abbreviations in the text; and ask about when is the next book coming out, which is not very soon.
