The USO partners with Motherhood Maternity to Offer Virtual Discussion Series for Military Moms
The 4th trimester (giving birth and the few first months afterward) is literally a crash course, sink-or-swim, one of the best feelings ever, but the “oh crap” this is hard introduction to motherhood. Now imagine being a new mom and being part of a military family. Military moms and moms-to-be face further struggles during pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond.
Prior to the pandemic, many moms combated these postpartum struggles with their friends, meet-ups, or playdates. Military spouses and members had access to on-base services as well. These services helped military moms prepare and adjust for a new baby and juggle military life demands. However, with the global pandemic placing social gatherings on hold, military moms are limited to the resources they have available to support them through this difficult time.
To help combat this issue of no longer having resources at our fingertips, Motherhood Maternity® teamed up with the USO to present a virtual discussion featuring industry experts on various topics such as wellness to pregnancy and parenting. Topics included are COVID-19 concerns, birth plans to self-care, and life balance with newborns and even 4th-trimester woahs. This four-part video series is hosted by Tamron Hall — new mom, award-winning journalist, and host and executive producer of “Tamron Hall.” These virtual events bring together military moms worldwide to have important conversations about pregnancy and motherhood topics.
"I remember when I was expecting with my son, I was terrified and filled with emotions, questions, and concerns as I was transitioning into a new stage of my life. I relied heavily on my inner circle of friends and family to create my community of mom experts." I am thrilled to be a part of building this much-needed community as part of the USO to serve as a valuable resource for connecting expecting and new moms who are part of our military family."

The next live stream, part of Motherhood Maternity ®’s social media movement called Motherhood Juggle, is on Monday, September 21, 2020. July 20. It will feature Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and now a mom of three, Ciara, who will share how she’s been handling the Motherhood Juggle following her third child’s recent birth. Host Tamron Hall will also be engaging in conversation and Q&A all about the “Fourth Trimester.”

Military spouses can register to participate HERE.
Motherhood Maternity® serves as a resource for expecting women and new moms. Within our #mhjuggle community, we recognize and want to support the expecting and new mothers in the military community. These women are often separated from friends and family and face some unique hurdles on top of the everyday juggle. We are excited to work with the USO, Tamron Hall, and health and wellness experts to specifically support these moms and have open conversations about all of ups and downs and everything in between. Together, we can be there for one another, sharing the juggle of motherhood with each other.

This motherhood series is among several virtual programming options the USO has worked to provide to the military community during the current pandemic.
Caring for the military family has always been a priority for the USO. Throughout this pandemic, our mission of strengthening service members and their families is more important than ever. Through our military virtual programming, we continue to provide support, resources, community, entertainment, and more to service members, spouses, and families who may be feeling separated and isolated. At the USO, we help military families through some special and critical moments. This series demonstrates we will be by their side during an exciting time as their family grows.
