Q. What does your family think of your writing?
Merideth: The greatest part of writing is my family’s support. They always rush to see what I’m writing or the illustrations I receive. My young boys often write stories themselves (their stories are probably even more entertaining than mine!)
Q. What do you think makes a good story?
Merideth: I think a good children’s book is one that makes a mark on a child’s heart and a family, whether that is a book that sparks laughter and joy or one that impacts them with a message.
Q. Describe what your ideal writing space looks like?
Merideth: My ideal writing space would be placing a desk on the beach somewhere. But my true writing space is a room upstairs in my home, echoing with the sounds of two boys playing Jedis or something else really loud! But to be honest, it is pretty perfect.
Q. Tell us about your plans for the future? Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Merideth: Well, that’s really up to God, I guess. In five years I’d like to keep writing books for children. I would also like to develop a program for teaching children the writing process and encouraging them to be authors and illustrators even at young ages.
Q. How did you become involved in the subject or theme of your book?
Merideth: Christmas has always held a special place in my heart and in my family. After reading my son’s letter to Santa a couple of years ago, which inspired the book, I wanted to create a magical and meaningful book, pointing readers towards the greatest gift of all, the birth of Jesus.
Q. What do you like to do when you are not writing?
Merideth: I love teaching ballet since that’s my background. I also enjoy being outdoors and playing with my children, watching football, singing in my church choir, and spending time with my husband and friends.
Q. Are you working on anything at the present that you would like to share with your readers about?
Merideth: My children’s Easter book will be available in 2021! Excitedly, it will be illustrated by the same talented artist as A Gift to Remember, Ylber Cërvadiku.
Q. Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?
Merideth: Surprisingly, yes, I do. I’ll receive emails complimenting the book etc. I also have a Kids Corner on my website and I love to post kid’s jokes, etc. that their parents send my way.
