Birds of Soar by CP Arthur Children’s Book Review
“Birds of Soar” is a children’s book set on a distant planet occupied by colorful and diverse Birds. Visiting their world helps kids of all ages learn the power of kindness, love, tolerance, and sharing. When the planet is down trodden the Birds must save it. To bring their planet back to life they must show compassion for each other.
Accompanied by swelling illustrations, “Birds of Soar” is must have book for children of all ages. The noble animal friends in the book will teach kids the values that bind communities together with a rustle of their feathers.
On the planet of Soar, all the birds share their food, are kind to each other, and get along great! Sounds perfect, right? Well, it certainly wasn’t always this way! In this imaginative story, Birds of Soar, we learn the truth behind the harmony that now exists on this unique planet, and how it required work and patience. As you read this story, you can expect that your kids will even draw some pretty important connections to our planet, too.
The problems that the planet of Soar faced were many – greed, selfishness, and hopelessness. Though the planet is beautiful, filled with natural resources and plenty of berries, its bird citizens couldn’t seem to make things work, and the planet and its berries turned gray. The birds began to blame each other, and the cycle of unhappiness grew worse and worse. However, a wise old bird arrived and taught kindness to the Soar inhabitants, and little by little they began to implement it. Today, the birds remember the wise bird and his teachings, and their world is bright and full of joy once more.
The illustrations are simply drawn, and can easily be imitated by a child using a computer generated drawing program. As a follow-up activity, why not invite your child to create her own birds of Soar? It’s a perfect companion, and it can give them a chance to express themselves and create their own version of themselves as a bird! Ask your child why he chose the colors and patterns he did, and begin to discuss his self concept. Any reason to help kids articulate their own experiences is a win! Children can create their friends and family as birds as well, and highlight the similarities and differences between them. All different colors and types of birds are important!

About the Author, CP Arthur
“I’m married with three kids. We have a rescued German Shepard Husky mix, and we live in California. I’ve worked mostly with government agencies but in the tech industry as well. I’m now retired. I wrote this for kids to encourage them to think about the importance of kindness, with simple illustrations I hoped would encourage them to draw themselves.”
