Vacation Villas: The Perfect Family Accommodation

Accommodations can make or break a vacation–you want a place that’s comfortable, has all the amenities you need, and is in a good location. That’s why, when we visited the Grand Bear Resort at Starved Rock, we chose to stay in one of the Vacation Villas–and it did not disappoint!

The Villas are perfect for families and feature all the comforts of home nestled in a beautiful woodsy setting–and with a 2-night minimum stay, it was perfect for our weekend getaway! With 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, there’s plenty of room to spread out. And the full kitchen with complimentary dinnerware and kitchenware means you can prepare your own meals if you don’t feel like eating out. But one of the best features of the Villa is the balcony. It’s a prime setting for enjoying a cozy cup of coffee in the morning or relaxing with  a glass of wine during sunset.

Grand Bear Resort also offers a variety of other accommodations if the Vacation Villas aren’t quite what you’re looking for–including Luxury Cabins and Family Suites, Kid Bunk Suites, and so much more! No matter what kind of accommodations you choose, you’re sure to have an amazing stay at Grand Bear Resort at Starved Rock.

Grand Bear Falls: An Indoor Waterpark Adventure

One of the highlights of Grand Bear Resort is Grand Bear Falls, the indoor waterpark. I have to mention this awesome amenity because our family had so much fun here! Since admission is free for overnight guests, we took full advantage and splashed around as much as we could!

This indoor waterpark features a super fun wave pool and swimming area, a lazy river and whirlpool, a slide tower, kiddie pool (for the little ones), a family slide and jacuzzi! They have everything you need for water fun, without ever stepping foot off the property–super convenient!

What I loved the most is me and the husband got to sit back, relax and unwind while our kiddos took to the water for some much-needed adventure–the best of both worlds! All in all, I was so pleased with our experience, so if you’re looking for a resort that has something for everyone in the family, I would highly recommend Grand Bear Resort. And be sure to take advantage of that indoor waterpark! Trust me, you won’t regret it.

On-Site Dining: Grand Bear Resort Has It All

If I’m being transparent, nothing spoils a vacation more than having to constantly find places to eat in a new area. I find it hard to put a break on the fun to drive around finding dining options. It can get a little overwhelming. But at the Grand Bear Resort, they had us covered. This Starved Rock resort has four amazing dining options on site with menu items for everyone in the family to enjoy.

First Up, Jack’s Place Restaurant & Bar

Jack’s Place Restaurant & Bar is a great casual dining option that serves up classic American favorites. You can stop by for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and their selection of beverages is perfect for quenching your thirst. Their monthly-themed drink menu is always a hit, and their beer, wine and spirits selection is impressive. The atmosphere at Jack’s is intimate and quaint, making it the perfect spot, not only for a family bite, but for a mid-mini-vacay date night with the one you love. So if you’re looking for a good meal and good drinks, be sure to check out Jack’s Place!

Next Up, Treetops Cafe

What’s not to love about Treetops Cafe? This cozy cafe features a menu filled with pizza, sandwiches, coffee, and all the yummy sweets our family could eat! And don’t get me started on their ice cream… As if ice cream wasn’t already delicious, it’s served in freshly made sugar cones! I highly recommend their Yummy Buns, which are stuffed brioche ice cream sandwiches. They are baked fresh every evening and fill the cafe with sweet smells that will have you coming back for more! Treetops Cafe is a great option for families looking for a staple fun food at Grand Bear Resort.

I Can’t Forget About Bear Island

I had such a blast eating at this pavilion-style restaurant! The tiki-cabin theme made for an enjoyable experience and the food was nothing short of fantastic. This bar and grill restaurant features frequent live music, which is always a plus in my book. It also hosts themed nights at the bar with drink specials, so if you’re vacationing with your loved ones or friends, it’s definitely a great option to check out for some good fun.
